Welcome to Hunter Elementary School!
We are a military-friendly elementary school. We want to help make your transition in our school as smooth as possible! Thirteen percent (13%) of Hunter Elementary student body consists of military-connected students.
We have Hunter military families that are serving on active-duty at Eielson AFB and Fort Wainwright, AK Air Guard,
AK National Guard, DoD personnel, Reservists, and Military Retirees!

Start & End times:
- First bell 8:00 AM, students can be dropped off at 7:40 for breakfast or outside recess before school
- School is out at 2:30 PM
Recess and Lunch Times:
- Grades Kindergarten -2nd grade eats lunch at 11:00 AM and has recess from 11:30-12:00
- Grades 3rd-5th grade has recess from 11:00-11:30 AM and eats lunch from 11:30-12:00
Required snow gear:
We go outside for recess if the temperature is above -20
Pick-up/Drop off procedures:
- Curbside is for students to get out of the vehicles and head inside (parents remain in vehicle)
- Parent Parking is for parents who leave their vehicles and escort students inside or meet students at the front door
After School Program:
- Available for students 2nd-5th grade upon approval, with application, as space permits.
- Runs from 2:30-4:30pm
